After a long wait of many months, the Beau Photo Rental Department has finally received a Nikon Z 9 Mirrorless body! Having used this camera for a day when it first came out, I couldn’t wait to use it again with the updated firmware which greatly improved the autofocus system. After using the Z9 with the latest firmware, I can truly say this camera is a beast, whether photographing bears chasing salmon in a stream or an owl hunting in a field, the AF system was extremely accurate & reliable.
The video capabilities far exceed my current needs with true 8K recording at up to 60fps in 12 bit RAW recording internally to a CFExpress Type B card! I typically record videos of animal behaviour in 4K @ 60p or 120p, which the Z9 can easily do, but beware even the ProRes 4K @ 60p eats up about 24GB/minute! Whew!
