The Favourite Camera Series – Troch

When asked, Troch replied:

1. If you were to choose a favourite film camera from your collection which would it be?

That’s an easy one. Without any doubt, I love my plastic fantastic Holga 120N. I own a lot of cameras and have great affection for most of them (some should certainly remain nameless) but my go-to is always and forever the Holga.

2. How long have you owned this camera?

I got my first Holga in 2006 and after a couple of rolls of film, I was hooked. I have collected a number of them, as I like to carry 2 or 3 at all times, and there are some interesting variations such as Holgawood and HolgaGlo.

3. How did you come to own this camera?

In early 2006, I saw an article online about the Holga and its many charms. As I was dissatisfied with the 6×4.5 format of my existing medium format camera and wanted new inspiration, I decided to take the plunge. Lucky for me, Beau Photo had lots in stock!

4. What things do you enjoy most about this camera?

I love the 6×6 format with corner vignetting and soft edge focus. It is also light enough that you can carry several, loaded with different films and cheap enough that you don’t need to worry about water or grit. It is quirky, easy to use and really quite versatile.

I shot this picture with my Holga Glo (120N) on LomoChrome Turquoise XR 100-400 film.
