New Affordable Slide Film!

Chrome 100

Chrome 100 is a colour reversal film that was produced by Flic-Film, which is re-spooled Kodak Ekta-chrome 100 at a much affordable price $20.50. Chrome 100 produces vibrant and saturated colours with a fine grain structure.

One of the standout features of Chrome 100 is its ability to handle high-contrast scenes, producing vibrant colours and rich detail even in challenging lighting conditions. It also has a wide exposure latitude, meaning it can handle overexposure and underexposure to a certain extent without losing detail or colour accuracy.

The film has a relatively low ISO of 100, which can be a limitation in low light situations. However, if used in bright sunlight or with a flash, it can produce stunning results with vivid colours and sharpness.

Slide film, also known as reversal or positive film has all the colours looking natural immediately after development. This type of film was created to be projected on a screen (which wouldn’t work with negative film ‘(C-41). The projection was useful for creating slide show presentations, as well as for screening movies.
Like colour negative film (C-41), modern slide film has a standardized development process, referred to as E-6. Unfortunately, not all labs can develop slide film; thus, it’s important to check with them before sending in your rolls. You may cross-process your slide film in C-41 chemicals to create negatives, though the results, again, may lack clarity, sharpness, and colour accuracy intended by the manufacturer. The only lab in B.C that is able to develop E-6 would be The Lab Vancouver.

Slide films are notorious for their narrow dynamic range. As a result, they are typically less forgiving of exposure mistakes and can easily be ruined when used carelessly in scenes with high contrast. Chrome 100 provides a huge improvement in dynamic range and latitude over other ISO 100 slide films. While the likes of Velvia 100F would punish the photographer for exposure mistakes and may become useless under bright light, Chrome 100 prevails with a versatility almost comparable to negative film

Overall, Chrome 100 is a great choice for photographers who want to shoot colour reversal film and are looking for vibrant colours and fine detail in their images. It’s well-suited for landscape, travel, and portrait photography, and is a great option for those who enjoy the look and feel of film.

I would ABSOLUTELY SHOOT THIS AGAIN LIKE C’MON $20.50 Instead of $50 🙂 Chrome 100 available here: https://www.beauphoto.com/product/flic-film-chrome-100/

Thanks, glad you read our review. Yes ABC photo also does offer E-6 processing as does London Drugs and some other photo labs in town.
